ON PUSHCHAIRS WE HAVE SOLD
See
my page on How to Choose the Right Pushchair!
In case you
are after something we don't currently have listed I thought it would be a
good idea to keep here my own reviews of pushchairs I have sold just for
information purposes. Hope they help!
MARCO
SKY L umbrella tandem double buggy
Suitable
for tall people as the handle is very high. Ideal if storage space
is a problem as this is compact when folded. Very long when
folded. The rear hood can be removed and this allows a toddler in
the back seat to see better. Easy to push. The front seat doesnt
recline but is very deep so quite a large toddler can fit in and
be comfortable. A sturdy and well made tandem which is easier to
push than similar priced tandems. Not as sturdy as more expensive
pushchairs but if you want a compact tandem or one for holidays
only this is ideal

COSATTO
DUET LITE (same as Mothercare Hoxton)
If
you can't afford a Jane, P&T or Mountain Buggy or just
want a smaller cheaper buggy for occasional use then this
is ideal. I have had one since they first came out as my
'holiday double' and have been very pleased with it. Easy
to push - far easier than most tandems and although heavy
is easy to get into a car and back out. Not as light as a
side by side umbrella buggy though but far more sturdy and
more suitable for larger or heavier children. The bumper
bar on the front seat opens to allow easy access in and
out - which is a very useful feature!
Good quality wipe clean fabric which I have found easy to
keep looking as new on mine.

URBAN
DETOUR XTREME
I
have stayed clear of these for years thinking they were a
cheap man's Mountain Buggy. How wrong I was!! I LOVE
pushing this! It's maybe better than a MB in a way and I
find it easier around town certainly. Copes well with off
and on road well. I don't like travel systems as a rule as
car seats are for cars but this one is a luxury one, well
padded and has all the gadgets and I'd personally be happy
to use it every now and again so my newborn could face me.
The main seat only faces forward. The footmuff is one of
the best I have ever seen for luxury feel and comfort.
Would happily pay £50 for one on its own if I needed one.
I also liked the way the raincover can fit in the back of
the pocket on the seat. The seat can recline flat easily
and also adjusts to many positions very easily. Not too
sure about the fabric as it's not waterproof and prone to
marks because of the colour - but in fact it looks fine.
Would prefer the fabric on the bumper bar to be removable
for washing but the bumper bar can come off and I am sure
anyone who can sew could make a custom cover if it ever
needs it! Top quality and a bargain even at new price. I
will buy more of these. I was impressed!

BUGABOO
The hype is true!
After owning hundreds of pushchairs over the years if I had one of these
originally then I may never have bought another pushchair (but how unfun
that would have been!)
They are so easy to push - really easy. They make other pushchairs feel
like pushing a lawnmower. And I don't think the price tag is extortionate
either. If you tot up what is included and compare it to 'cheaper'
pushchairs then the Bugaboo with its carrycot, raincover etc included
works out cheaper than many and not a lot more expensive than most popular
alternatives.
I have found that the cameleon hoods DO fit the frog and that the
cameleon/Gecko/frog seat units (and hence carrycots) fit on all chassis.
So you can fit a cameleon seat unit to a frog chassis. You can also fit
cameleon front wheels to the frog - but to be honest I wouldnt as the frog
front wheels I think are better.
OK, things I don't really like (but not enough to stop me loving these!)
-
You have
to take the seat unit off to fold it which is a pain. The Bee has
solved this problem but the Bee isnt suitable for off-road or where I
live in the country.
-
It's just
not easy to push with the fixed rear wheels at the front - solved by
using snow wheels off-road instead. And using the beach option of just
2 wheels and pulling is impossible unless you have more muscles than
most.
-
The
shopping space is limited
Cameleon: The
new top of the range model and it's fun to customize with hoods from ebay.
Extendable handle is good for couples of different heights. Prefer the
normal rear wheels to the new foam filled ones. Wish the handle was the
same thickness as other models as bag clips do not stay on and bag clips
are needed!
Gecko:
Like the rubber handle and the height is fine for most of average height.
Feels really light compared to the cameleon. In fact I like this a lot -
the lighter carrycot is so much easier to carry. Minimalist but like it!
Frog:
Why oh why did they replace this with the above models? I have only just
bought one having used a cameleon for a couple of years and didnt believe
it when people who had owned both claimed the Frog was better. But now I
believe them - it's better built, better quality and on rough ground I
dont even need snow wheels. The front wheels just seem to cope better with
rough ground.
Bee:
Great for around town and like the way that it folds in one piece. Bit of
a faff to turn the seat unit and personally I like a carrycot for the
first 6 months - but the Bee is a fab buggy and resale value makes it
worth buying.

MACLAREN
BUGGIES
I LOVE Maclaren
buggies. The original really are the best for me. Other makes I find
harder to push and clunky in many cases. I will always pay more for a
Maclaren
My favourite has to be the Quest. I am 5'3 and find the Techno
XT too tall and more of a everyday pushchair and slightly heavy but
the Quest does for holidays and occasional use and lies back enough for
most ages. The Triumph I didnt like as much so would pay extra next
time for the Quest. I also like the older buggies such as The Vogue and
Imp and the wheels seem to be better wearing on these for some reason.
Newer Maclarens often have problems with wheel wear at the back.

LITTLE
SHIELDS VERBIER 3 wheeler pushchair
Exactly
the same as the Mothercare Urban Detour 3 wheelers and
just as lovely to push both around town and cross country.
Chunky pneumatic tyres make it a smooth ride and push. I
like having a padded removable seat liner as some
pushchairs are just so hard on the bottom and need a liner
to make them comfortable. Quite large (bulky) when folded
but not lengthwise so should fit most medium car boots.
Bulky if left folded inside though so probably better to
store open. Quite heavy to lift at 10.3kg but not heavy to
push at all.
Shopping basket is a decent size too! I really enjoy
pushing this. It feels 'compact' and controllable. The
only thing I don't like about using it is that, like most
3 wheelers, it's not as stable going up kerbs as a
4-wheeler is.

MOTHERCARE
OLYMPUS
Lovely
to push around town but not really suited for off-road Seat
can face you which is also rare in cheaper pushchairs
these days. Suits to around 2.5 or even 3 years.
Nice handle
which isnt foam so hard to ruin!

MAMAS &
PAPAS twin aria
Gosh
this is so light! I can easily carry it with one hand. Ideal for around town as
cross country the wheels are a bit small. I wouldnt use
this for heavy children but ideal for light or small
children and suitable from birth. I'd keep this for
holidays if I didnt have so many pushchairs....

MOUNTAIN
BUGGY
URBAN: Possibly
my favourite pushchair ever bar the Bugaboo as you can push it with one
finger even on really rough ground. It's large enough for an older and
heavier child and just so sturdy that I am sure some will last 100 years
if cared for well. Downsides are - it's bulky when folded and mine wont
fit in my car boot. The child can only face forwards and I found the wind
or sun gets in their eyes when sitting up
These have a hard back rest so more support when lying down but not so
good on rough ground
The double version is the bees knees - but doesnt fit through most house
doors and takes up a lot of storage space.
The really old
Urbans have a flat hood, later models have a fixed handle and support
mid-hood and from around 2006 onwards they have adjustable handles. The
older ones have a canvas fabric which I found rips more easily and also
prone to fade.
TERRAIN: These
are brilliant off road. I found the single version better all round than
the urban if I am honest - but it just doesnt look so swish as the fabric
colours are limited. I didnt get on at all with the double version and
found it heavy and hard to manoevre
Older versions
have a flat hood - really old ones have a red frame. They do not do a
double version any more

SILVER
CROSS 3D
Like
the popular Mamas & Papas P3 pramette - in pram mode
the baby can face you. Suits birth to toddler without
having to change to a lighter buggy as you get fed up with
a larger pram unit. I find this less rickety than the
Mamas & Papas but maybe feels a bit heavier because of
this. It's a bit stiff to fold but with
practice gets easier. Can be folded with the carrycot
liner in place which is good. Plus the liner can be taken
out and washed (another bonus over the P3)
Fits most
cars and isnt too long or bulky.

MOTHERCARE
MAXIM
A
good solid quality allrounder. Feels sturdy to push and quite large and the
spring on the large shopping basket is a fantastic idea.
It feels sturdy, good fabrics and not at all
rickety. Should last for ages if treated well. Should fit
most large boots but as it's easy to fold ideal for
walking and public transport. Large seat so it could be
used from birth until your child no longer uses a
pushchair.
Same as the current Trenton
model really. Bulky in width but stands upright when
stored and so easier to store folded than many pushchairs.
Will suit all ages which is a bonus and suitable for
grandparents too.
Quite heavy for a single but then it's
worth the weight to get this quality and such a large seat
and shopping basket
